He didn't make her feel overpowered or cornered. He didn't come off like a book snob. He simultaneously expressed his attraction, and expressed that he was a man worthy of her time.

Notice that in this scenario, he put his pitch out there, and then he walked away. Guys, it's so important to know when to approach, and when to retreat. But he wasn't going to try to make it all happen in one conversation. Besides that, she was there to read. He was considerate enough to leave her to her reading.
